Welcome to Edward Smyth-Osbourne Racing

Edward grew up surrounded by horses and really learnt the ropes on the hunting field. He progressed through the Pony club taking in all the equine education that it had to offer whilst competing in many different disciplines.
Polo was the his main focus for most of his teenage years and beyond but a relatively successful foray into the Point-to-Pointing world really cemented Edward’s love of racing.
Upon leaving University, Edward moved to Newmarket to work for Mckeever bloodstock which led to a placement on The National Stud course and subsequently a stint in Australia working for Gai Waterhouse and then Chris Waller. Once he returned to England, Edward took the step up to assistant trainer for Michael Bell and has since worked for the likes of Mark Johnston, Henry Candy and Chris Grassick and William Muir.
Edward was granted his training licence in February 2024 and the team have made a promising start, sending out their 1st winner, Noodle Mission, with just their 2nd runner and 3 winners from the first 7 runners.
Frenchman’s House stables is a purpose built 20 box yard with lovely big airy stables, a turnout paddock and 5 bay horsewalker. It is situated at the bottom of Kingsdown gallop in Upper Lambourn, perfectly located to make the most of the wonderful facilities that The Jockey Club have to offer.
